Our Programs
Aikido cultivates many benefits for body, mind, and spirit; it improves mobility, endurance, balance, posture, and dynamic strength. It also plays a vital role in settling the mind, enhancing awareness, and changing responses to perceived dangers.
At Aikiway Dojo, students of every age, level, ability and background are encouraged to join us on the mat. We have extensive plans for everyone with the desire to train in Aikido and benefit body mind and spirit.
Aikido Foundations
The Aikido program focuses on practicing body techniques with partners. It is built for practitioners of all experience levels. The curriculum includes traditional Aikido practice, groundwork, and other practical self-defense applications.
The sessions start with warm-ups and conditioning exercises; then, instructors demonstrate techniques and methods. The dynamic practice is designed to teach attacking and defensive techniques, and the classes are vigorous to scale student’s fitness and abilities.
Aikido Weapon Program
Weapon practice is an integral part of Aikido training at Aikiway Dojo. Students first familiarize themselves with weapons, basic strikes, and kata, then move to dynamic partners for proper training. Usually, bokken (wooden sword) and jo (wooden staff) are used to develop solid martial principles like distance, timing, and connection.
The goal is to help students learn how to use weapons and gain a greater level of focus to enhance awareness and reaction time.
